Restylane can provide the body its best offense, in the fight against static wrinkles. Comprised of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a substance naturally occurring in the human body, the injectable gel can improve the appearance of both fine lines and deep facial folds. By plumping the tissues, wrinkles are eliminated. HA also has the power to encourage collagen production, which will continue to improve the appearance over the following months.
There are two types of lines and creases found on the face: static wrinkles, resulting from a loss of volume and elasticity, and dynamic wrinkles, triggered by repetitive muscle movement. As the skin ages, both static and dynamic wrinkles will begin to occur more and more. Fortunately, excellent treatments are available at the cosmetic surgeon’s office to restore a youthful appearance.
Restylane can:
- Smooth deep facial crevices
- Improve fine lines of the face
- Even acne and other facial scarring
- Plump up the lips
- Provide volume and symmetry to the cheeks
The Ideal Candidate for Restylane
Patients looking for a way to add natural looking volume to their cheeks, below their eyes, and across the jawline, can find Restylane an excellent choice. Both men and woman experiencing the early signs of aging can make an ideal candidate for the facial filler. Patients should be in overall good health, understand the dermal filler process, and hold realistic expectations for their results. Can be safely used for patients of all skin types and ethnicities.
The Procedure
Restylane injections are provided in the state-of-the-art Hillelson-Whipple Clinic office. The session will take less than 30 minutes to perform. After the skin has been prepped, the administrator will apply Restylane with a very small needle, to predetermined areas of the face. The injections are not considered uncomfortable. However, to improve the patient’s comfort level, Hillelson-Whipple Clinic will administer a topical or local anesthetic prior to treatment.
Some bruising and swelling may occur after injections of Restylane. Work and school may be returned to right away, but some patients elect to wait for 24 to 48 hours, until these symptoms have resolved and will remain malleable underneath the tissue for 78 hours after a treatment. Patients should be extremely careful not to manipulate the area until after this period.
Results will be apparent immediately. While work and school can be resumed that same afternoon, some patients prefer to wait until the redness and swelling has complete dissipated. The benefits can last from six to nine months, after which time a repeat treatment is required to maintain results. Patients should use care not to manipulate or rub the injection area for the first 78 hours, or the injectable may become dispersed.
The Risks of Restylane
When applied by an experienced provider, Restylane injections are both safe and effective. On the small chance that side effects occur, these can include bleeding, scarring, facial asymmetry, and nerve damage. Patients should take time to learn the provider’s background and skill level before trusting them with their appearance. Hillelson-Whipple Clinic Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedics has over twenty five years of aesthetic experience. Other injectables performed at Hillelson-Whipple Clinic Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedics, are among the safest available in the country.
