Covering up skin imperfections can be frustrating. Makeup can partially conceal some skin concerns, such as discoloration. There’s really no way to completely cover certain blemishes though, like acne scars. Let’s face it, applying makeup constantly and reapplying after sweating, swimming, or getting caught in a rainstorm is burdensome.
There are a wide variety of out-patient skin procedures to consider if you’re trying to find a more long-term and low maintenance solution to these skin concerns. Let’s examine a few.
Laser resurfacing
During laser skin resurfacing, a wand-like device delivers beams of light to the layers of your skin until blemishes are no longer visible, allowing new skin to grow in its place. At our clinic we offer an advanced, precise laser treatment called PicoSure. This laser is a little different than the usual laser. It delivers short bursts of energy to target the problem areas, instead of the constant beam of energy delivered by traditional lasers. These short bursts are more precise and lessen the possibility of any damage to the skin.
BBL Treatments
This laser treatment alters the skin at the molecular level which means lasting results. It sends light energy deep into the layers of the skin. Multiple skin conditions can be treated in a single session. Which means this treatment is ideal for someone with multiple concerns such as aging skin, sun spots or acne scars. It may only take a few minutes, or up to a half hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.
Chemical peels
We offer several types of chemical peels at our clinic, and one of our experienced technicians will discuss which one is best for your skin concerns. Basically a peel involves the application of a solution to the skin which causes it to eventually peel away so that new skin can grow. Chemical peels can be very effective for sun spots and acne on the face and other blemished areas. The process takes about an hour and repeat treatments may be necessary to achieve maximum results.
Microdermabrasion
During this procedure, an applicator with an abrasive tip gently removes the outermost layer of skin. Removing this layer gives your skin the opportunity to replenish cells to the treated area and results in a refreshed appearance. The procedure takes approximately half an hour. It is considerably quick, pain-free and non-invasive. The results vary depending on the individual but overall it’s an effective process with minimal discomfort.
